Starting in January 2026, a new “Green Fee” will be implemented across Hawaii. This is a crucial initiative designed to protect Hawaii’s natural environment and promote sustainable tourism for years to come.

So, what is it?
The Green Fee is a small tax that will be added to the cost of your accommodation, adding 0.75% to your lodging bill. For example, on a $300 per night hotel stay, you can expect an additional $2.25. While this means your total bill will be slightly higher, the impact of your contribution will be significant.

Every dollar collected through this fee is an investment in the future of our islands. The funds will be used for vital projects, including:
- Environmental Protection: Protecting endangered species, restoring coral reefs, and regenerating forests.
- Infrastructure Improvements: Maintaining and cleaning the trails, beaches, and other public areas that visitors enjoy.
- Sustainable Tourism Initiatives: Supporting the local community and preserving the unique cultural heritage of Hawaii.
We believe this small investment is a huge step toward ensuring that the Hawaii we all love remains a beautiful and vibrant place for generations to come.
A Taste of Sustainable Hawaii at the Networking Reception

The first night of the conference featured a networking reception, and it was a feast for the senses! The catering was provided by some of Hawaii’s most popular local restaurants, all of whom focus on using fresh, sustainable ingredients.
We happily sampled everything, from beautiful, farm-to-table salads to fresh seafood prepared with local flair. As a company dedicated to the preservation of Hawaii’s ocean and natural beauty, it was incredibly inspiring to experience the islands’ commitment to local food culture.

It sparked some exciting new ideas for our tours! We’ve always wanted to find a way for our guests to experience more of Hawaii’s authentic food culture, and we’re now exploring the possibility of collaborating with local restaurants to offer a special meal on our tours. Stay tuned—a delicious, locally-sourced lunch might be coming to a Captain Bruce’s tour near you!
As a responsible tour operator, we are committed to protecting the beautiful nature and culture of Hawaii while providing each of you with an unforgettable experience.
