For a Beautiful Future of Hawaii: We Participated in the Earth Day Beach Cleanup!

Captain Bruce participated in an Earth Day beach cleanup event held on April 19, 2025, at Bellows Beach on Oahu’s east coast. Organized by Sustainable Coastlines Hawai‘i (SCH), the event aimed to tackle issues like visible trash and the more challenging microplastics—tiny plastic fragments embedded in the sand.

Volunteers were divided into three teams.
Microplastic Removal Team:
Used sifters to separate microplastics from the sand.
Large Debris Collection Team:
Collected larger items like bottles and abandoned waste.
Native Plant Restoration Team:
Planted indigenous Hawaiian plants to restore the coastal environment.

The Hawaiian concept of Kuleana (responsibility and stewardship) emphasizes the importance of protecting Hawaii’s natural beauty for future generations. At Captain Bruce, we are deeply committed to supporting sustainability and preserving Hawaii’s environment through our business practices.
Operating amidst Hawaii’s breathtaking natural beauty is both a privilege and a reminder to reflect on our Kuleana. This inspires us to reaffirm our responsibility to not only enhance this exceptional environment for those who visit us but also preserve it for generations to come, ensuring it thrives in an even better state.
Every day is Earth Day!
