Introduction
When you hear the name Disney, what comes to mind? Enchanting characters, theme parks, animated films, streaming services, Disney Cruises, and hotel resorts. Did you know that there is a seminar that reveals the secrets behind the consistent worldview and brand known as Disney Magic, which is common to all of these?
Unveiling the Secrets of Disney Magic
In an effort to improve service, Captain Bruce’s management team attended a training session at the Disney Institute in Anaheim, California. This year’s seminar focused on the secrets of Disney’s consistent worldview and brand known as “Disney Magic.”
Captain Bruce’s Learnings
Throughout the three-day course, Maritime Manager Yuka and Port Captain Alan learned about:
- Quality Service
- Employee Engagement
- Leadership Excellence
This seminar, held at the Disneyland Hotel & Spa, a Disney-owned hotel located within Disneyland, brought together CEOs, executives, and managers from various companies around the world, providing an opportunity for networking with leaders from other industries. Each day began with breakfast at 7:30 am with approximately 70 participants.
The Appeal of the Seminar
One of the highlights of the seminar was the opportunity to tour the “backstage” areas, which are normally off-limits to non-staff. Even though photography is prohibited for Disney cast members, it was a valuable experience to receive explanations from the instructors and ask questions while experiencing the actual operations.
Participants were able to observe how the Disneyland and Disney California Adventure theme parks are designed and operated, and they also had the opportunity to observe guests and cast members.
A Memorable Side Note
One of the most memorable aspects of the seminar was the 3:00 pm snack break! Every day, Disney-themed desserts such as Mickey Mouse cupcakes, Mickey Mouse ice cream bars, and Mickey Mouse cake pops were provided, and everyone enjoyed them!
Further Learning with a Training Trip
After completing the Disney training, the training continued with Bruce & Akiko for further learning in California.
Catalina Island: A Ferry Ride from Long Beach
As soon as the ferry departed, the Queen Mary came into view! The Queen Mary is a famous National Historic Landmark that also serves as a hotel, restaurant, and museum.
The plan was to spend half a day sightseeing on Catalina Island, but as boat enthusiasts, we couldn’t help but be drawn to the boats docked at the harbor. We were also interested in the tours offered in the area.
Before we knew it, time had flown by as we watched the marine life in the area.
Exploring Popular L.A. Restaurants
The last day of the training trip was spent in L.A. Many of Captain Bruce’s tour guests come from California, especially L.A., so this time we visited a number of “popular restaurants with long lines” in Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, and Marina del Rey to learn about trends in the area.
Connecting Hawaii
We share these experiences with our team at Captain Bruce and work towards the realization of co-creation that connects guests, staff, and the local community through our tours, with a focus on the beautiful island of Oahu in Hawaii.
Seminar Summary 2023: Miami Boat Show
The boat show is an important learning opportunity for us.
For Captain Bruce himself, as well as for those who love boats and vehicles, boat shows held all over the world are exciting events full of expectations.
