Does the recommended time slot change depending on the season?
In the Kaneohe Sandbar Snorkeling Tour, we offer the same activities during the morning, afternoon, and early morning tours. Therefore, the experiences you have during the tour will not change, but each tour has its own unique features depending on the time slot and tide level.
Morning Tour
This tour departs at 9:00 and returns at 11:45 (during the summer, the Early Morning Tour departs at 10:15 and returns at 13:00).
The tide level ranges from 0.5 to 3 feet. The location (the edges of the sandbar are deeper while the middle is shallower) and conditions may vary depending on the time slot. The temperature ranges from 68 to 81 degrees Fahrenheit, varying with the seasons.
Since many customers prefer the morning departure schedule, these tours tend to sell out quickly. Therefore, we recommend making reservations approximately one month in advance for your desired tour date.
Afternoon Tour
This tour departs at 12:15 and returns at 15:00 (not available during the summer’s Early Morning Tour).
The tide level is similar to the Morning Tour, ranging from 0.5 to 3 feet. The location (the edges of the sandbar are deeper while the middle is shallower) and conditions may vary depending on the time slot. The temperature ranges from 75 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit, varying with the seasons. The temperature and sea temperature are higher than the Morning Tour, creating a very pleasant time for activities.
In the afternoon, the sun is directly overhead, providing a clearer view of the Kaneohe Sandbar, making it suitable for photography.
Early Morning Tour
This is a summer-exclusive tour conducted only in July, August, and the last week of September. The tour departs at 7:00 and returns at 9:45.
During the early morning hours, there is less wind and gentle sunlight, and as it is summer, the temperature ranges from 72 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit, providing comfortable conditions for enjoying the sandbar. Furthermore, during the early morning hours in summer, there is a higher chance of experiencing the sandbar at a low tide. * The water level ranging from 0 to 1.6 feet (50 cm)
Additionally, after the tour concludes, returning to Waikiki around 11:30 allows you to make effective use of the afternoon hours.
The contrasting colors of the shallow and deep parts of the ocean, as well as the sprawling Ko’olau mountain range on the landside, are breathtaking sights that represent the essence of Hawaii. Many repeat customers who participate multiple times also enjoy these views.
Please enjoy the ever-changing natural beauty of Hawaii as time passes! Our cheerful and friendly staff are eagerly awaiting your visit.
